Beautiful New York

A Celebration of the City

International Nurses’ Day

Since 1974, May 12 has been declared International Nurses’ Day in honor of the birthday of Florence Nightingale. In a city that depends on so many top flight hospitals, from the Montefiore Medical Center, to Elmhurst Hospital, to the University Hospital of Brooklyn, to Richmond University Medical Center, to the legendary Bellevue, New Yorkers have certainly spent more than their fair share of time depending on the skill, dedication, and bedside manner of nurses. So thank the next nurse you see. And Happy International Nurses’ Day!
