It Happened Today in New York City

On April 28, 1967, the South Street Seaport Museum was chartered. The brainchild of Peter and Norma Stanford, the outdoor museum focused mainly on Schermerhorn Row, a now splendidly restored cobblestone block of 19^th century shops. The addition of tall ships, most notably the S.S. Wavertree, has significantly enriched the museum’s offerings.
