Named for an 18th century farmer who had owned the land on which it stands, this monumental apartment building spans a full square block and was, for a short time, the largest apartment building in the world. Today, it is one of the most expensive, with condominiums going for over $3,000 per square foot. Famous residents have included Nora Ephron, Cyndi Lauper, and Al Pacino.
