Beautiful New York

A Celebration of the City

National Oreo Cookie Day

03-06-oreoWhile the way to celebrate National Oreo Cookie Day might seem quite obvious, it takes on a special significance in New York because this is where the Oreo Cookie was invented! At the old NBC factory (no, not the National Broadcasting Corporation — the National Biscuit Company), the delectably crisp chocolate wafers sandwiching the sweet cream was created in 1912. When the broadcasters came along, the original NBC changed its name to Nabisco. Today, the factory has become Chelsea Market, a very worthwhile stop for foodies in the city to try high quality artisanal snacks and meals of every variety. So have some Oreos and check out their place of origin. Happy National Oreo Cookie Day!
