On a private plot in Moravian Cemetery stands the mausoleum to New York’s richest family in the mid-19th century. Reserved for those who hold the Vanderbilt name, including the patriarchal “commodore”, the mausoleum is alleged to be haunted. For a long time, it was considered impossible to sneak a good photo of the exclusive crypt, now a New York City Landmark.
