BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE — Jackie Gleason

02-26 GleasonHappy 100th Birthday to the late, great Jackie Gleason! The beloved actor and comedian who was born on this day in 1916 is best remembered for the classic TV sitcom, The Honeymooners, the he also gave some very successful film and stage performances throughout his career (including his Oscar-nominated portrayal of Minnesota Fats in The Hustler). A fondly remembered native of Brooklyn (a culture from which much of his comedy was derived), he is commemorated throughout the city. His statue stands in front of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, the Sunset Park Bus Depot bears his name, his quotation “How sweet it is!” adorns street signs heading into Brooklyn, and his regular suite at the Omni Park Hotel has been renamed in his honor.

  1. His music and orchestra was also very good and is hardly mentioned. I was able to download some of it from iTunes. I’m not selling anything and have not financial interest in Apple of iTunes. I just want to inform anyone who is curious.
