The Muslim holy month of Muharram begins today and is second in importance only to Ramadan. At this time of remembrance and peace, Muslims are forbidden to engage in any form of fighting. Fasting and donations to charity are also seen during this time, though they are not obligatory. Most importantly, we will see our Muslim friends and neighbors engage in voluntary prayers in the day and evening time. Here’s wishing a very happy holiday, and holy month, to all.
