Many years ago I saw Philippe Petit performing on a slack rope in Washington Square park. This was after he walked between the twin towers. He had about 15-20 people watching him, while twenty yards away a profane street comedian had a crowd of two hundred or more. I always felt that it said a lot about our culture.
