National Hot Dog Day
Though expensive eats are unparalleled in New York, there are many cheap, quick, and easy ways to grab grub on the go in Gotham. And no street meat comes with more cache than the hot dog. A simple “tube steak” has long been a staple of the street carts that have given rise to the popular term, “dirty water dog”. But the most classic New York dog of all is served just off the boardwalk at Coney Island (what better place to be in mid-July?) at the one and only original Nathan’s. Happy National Hot Dog Day!
