Ghostbusters (dir. Ivan Reitman, 1984)

06-27 Ghostbusters

The funniest movie ever set in New York City is a veritable cornucopia of iconic locations, beginning with an ominous close-up of one of the lions (is it Patience or Fortitude?) in front of the New York Public Library. The title characters work on campus at Columbia University and the legendary climactic battle with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man takes place at the spiky, art deco apartment building at 55 Central Park West. To this day, more than 30 years after the movie’s release, tourists flock to the fire house (still in operation) on North Moore Street, which still sports the famous Ghostbusters logo in its window.
