10 What More Do I NeedYears before Stephen Sondheim became the Golden Boy of Broadway musicals, he wrote a little charmer called Saturday Night about lonely Brooklynites seeking dates in the city. Written in 1955, it wasn’t produced until 40 years later and this song, about falling in love in (and with) the city, remains its most exuberant legacy.

  1. Wonderful, Matt. Sondheim wrote that a full 2 years before he did the lyrics for West Side Story – ergo that song and the musical was done when he just turned 25!
