14th Street (A,C,E, and L Trains)
The crazy, beloved roly-poly bronze figures popularized by the sculptor, Tom Otterness, are a familiar fixture throughout New York City. But nowhere are they a more welcome presence than in his station-wide installation, Life Underground, in the subway station at the corner of 14th Street and Eighth Avenue. The legendary alligator coming out of the sewer is one of the highlights, as is the telephone totem and the many moneybag figures and token carriers.
