Top 10 Greatest Murals in NYC — #2
Staten Island Borough Hall
Staten Island Borough Hall, designed by the legendary architectural firm, Carrère & Hastings, boasts a suite of the most lush and romantic murals in all of New York City. Painted by native Staten Islander, Frederick Charles Stahr, the 13 panels sumptuously portray the history of the borough, local luminaries from Giovanni Da Verrazano to Othmar Ammann. In between these two heroic figures are depictions of the island’s various historic milestones, from the early colonial days, through the American revolution, to 19th and early 20th century establishments of the community we know today. This artwork is more than worth the journey across the Upper Bay.
