Top 10 Greatest Gardens in NYC — #3
Though Central Park was designed to appear mostly rustic and foresty, the Conservatory Garden is the single nod to European-style formality. Essentially three gardens in one, the central Italian Garden is separated from its French and British neighbors on either side by rows of stunning crabapple trees that bloom in the spring. The trimmed hedges of the French Garden surround one of the most beautiful fountains in the city, while the British-style “Secret Garden” features a centerpiece lily pad pool, dedicated to the beloved novelist, Frances Hodgson Burnett. This may be the most beautiful spot in the city to be accessed free of admission.
