59th Street Bridge
Also called the Edward I. Koch Queensboro Bridge, the busiest bridge in the city accommodates approximately 178,000 vehicles per day. One of New York’s most artistically inspiring bridges, the 59th Street Bridge is mentioned in novels from The Great Gatsby to Charlotte’s Web. It shows up in movies from My Man Godfrey to Manhattan to The Dark Knight Rises, and in TV shows such as Taxi, Archie Bunker’s Place, and The King of Queens. The bridge is also the subject of a great painting by Edward Hopper and a famous song by Simon & Garfunkel.
