Top 10 Most Beautiful Residential Blocks in NYC — #2
Between Adam Clayton Powell and Frederick Douglas Boulevards, 138th and 139th Streets (with an old carriage house alley in between) both hold the honor of being named Strivers’ Row. We prefer the latter for its striking contrast of classic red brick townhouses with the row’s signature blonde brick across the street. Handsome and elegant, the row symbolizes the graceful progress of Harlem itself, featuring the former homes of such notables as W.C. Handy, Harry Wills, Eubie Blake, and Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
