The Neptune Fountain02-27 Neptune

Based on an 1893 zinc original, this bronze sculpture of the Roman God of the Sea was cast and rededicated in 1994 on the east lawn of Snug Harbor in Staten Island.  Cleaned up and preserved in 2012, the statue of Neptune, trident in hand, still graces as cast iron basin.  The sea serpent on which Neptune sits is the clever source of the fountain’s spray.
