The Rockefeller Fountain

02-22 Rockefeller FountainImported from Como, Italy, and once simply called “The Italian Fountain”, this trickling bit of nautical whimsy was installed at the north gate of the Bronx Zoo by William Rockefeller in 1902.  Restored in 2008, the granite and limestone sculpture features charming sea horses, swans, cherubs, etc. and enchants the eyes of zoo visitors as they rest on the steps.
