Built on the former site of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “Valley of Ashes”, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park was designed to be the site of the two great World’s Fairs hosted by New York City in 1939 and 1964. Featuring great museums and cultural institutions, playgrounds, boat rentals, playing fields, and world famous professional sports stadiums, Flushing Meadows is also the home of one of the most recognizable public sculptures in the city, The Unisphere.

It was at the 1964 Worlds Fair that Walt Disney introduced his animatronic Abraham Lincoln, the Carousel of Progress and the Small World ride. All of them were later moved to Disneyland.
